Suvendu Sets 45-Day BSF Land Deadline

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that his government will transfer land to the Border Security Force within 45 days to support fencing along the India-Bangladesh border. The decision was taken during the first Cabinet meeting of the new state government at Nabanna.

BSF Land Transfer For Border Fencing

Adhikari said the state government would complete the process of handing over land to the BSF within 45 days. The move is aimed at speeding up border fencing work along the India-Bangladesh border, an issue repeatedly linked to security, infiltration and cross-border movement concerns.

The Chief Minister said the decision was part of the new government’s focus on security and administrative coordination.

West Bengal Cabinet Announces Key Decisions

The first Cabinet meeting also cleared several other decisions. The government withdrew restrictions on IAS, IPS and WBPS officers attending deputation and training programmes outside West Bengal.

Adhikari said the move would improve administrative exposure and coordination. The Cabinet also approved a five-year age relaxation for government job aspirants who lost recruitment opportunities in recent years.

BNS And Central Schemes To Be Implemented

The government also decided to immediately implement the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the state. The Cabinet further approved the rollout of central schemes, including Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

The decision marks a shift in West Bengal’s approach toward centrally sponsored schemes that had faced political resistance under the previous administration.

Suvendu Adhikari Outlines Governance Roadmap

Adhikari described the decisions as part of a broader roadmap for governance, security and public welfare. The first Cabinet meeting signals the new government’s attempt to align administrative policy with border security, healthcare access and employment-related relief.
