Structures Removed Outside Pakistan High Commission

Indian authorities have removed unauthorised structures and queue-management barriers outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, days after Pakistani authorities dismantled parking poles and security arrangements outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

Structures Removed Outside Pakistan High Commission

The structures were located near the visa section of the Pakistan High Commission and stood in a lane outside the diplomatic compound’s designated perimeter.

Authorities cleared the installations on Thursday, including structures and barriers used for managing queues outside the mission.

The action was carried out by the concerned civic and security agencies, with the installations reportedly considered unauthorised because they extended beyond the approved boundary of the diplomatic premises.

Move Follows Action Near Indian Mission in Islamabad

The clearance came around three days after Pakistani authorities removed parking poles and security barricades positioned outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

The Indian mission had reportedly lodged a formal protest over the removal of those arrangements.

The timing of the New Delhi action has consequently been viewed as a reciprocal development amid continuing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan.

India-Pakistan Diplomatic Tensions Continue

Neither side has announced any broader change to the functioning of their diplomatic missions following the removal of the installations.

India and Pakistan continue to maintain high commissions in each other’s capitals despite strained bilateral relations and recurring disputes involving security, diplomatic arrangements and other bilateral issues.

The latest episode adds another point of friction to relations between New Delhi and Islamabad, with actions involving diplomatic premises receiving heightened attention from both sides.
