Sridhar Vembu Calls For Fresh Tamil Nadu Polls
Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu has called for fresh elections in Tamil Nadu, saying the current Assembly numbers may not allow a stable government to be formed after Vijay’s TVK fell short of a clear majority.
Sridhar Vembu Backs Fresh Elections
Vembu said the numbers “don’t seem to add up” and argued that any government formed through post-poll arrangements could remain unstable due to competing political pressures.
He said Tamil Nadu deserved better than a fragile government and suggested that President’s Rule followed by fresh elections may be the best course. His remarks came amid reports that TVK has not yet secured enough support to prove a majority.
Vijay TVK Majority Question Deepens
Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election but did not cross the majority mark on its own. The Congress has extended support to TVK, but the numbers are still being closely watched.
The AIADMK has ruled out support to TVK, while political uncertainty has continued over government formation. This has triggered wider debate on whether Tamil Nadu is heading towards a stable government or a prolonged constitutional deadlock.
President’s Rule Debate In Tamil Nadu
Vembu said fresh polls should be held with strict enforcement against cash-for-votes practices. He also predicted that Vijay could return with a “super majority” if people are asked to vote again.
He added that the DMK and AIADMK should fight together if they want to stop TVK, while the BJP should contest alone, even at the risk of winning no seats. His comments have added a new public voice to the debate over Tamil Nadu’s political future.
