Railways Clears 100 Projects Worth Rs 1.53 Lakh Crore
Indian Railways has approved 100 infrastructure projects worth Rs 1.53 lakh crore in FY26, marking its biggest network expansion push this year. The sanctioned works will cover more than 6,000 km of the railway network and include new lines, doubling, multitracking, bypass lines and flyovers aimed at easing congestion and improving connectivity.

The projects are being aligned with the PM Gati Shakti framework, which focuses on integrated infrastructure planning and better logistics efficiency. Railways expects the expanded network to support industrial growth, strengthen freight corridors and improve last-mile access to key economic zones. The move also fits into the government’s broader push to make rail transport faster, more reliable and more competitive.
