Rahul Slams PM Modi Over US Remarks
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over recent United States statements linked to the Strait of Hormuz and the killing of Indian sailors. Gandhi accused the government of remaining silent despite what he described as unacceptable language from Washington.
Rahul Gandhi Attacks PM Modi Over US Remarks
Rahul Gandhi said a sovereign country should not tolerate threatening language from another nation. He alleged that the Prime Minister and the government had failed to respond firmly to the US position.
His remarks came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly told External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar that commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz should comply with orders from US forces.
Congress Questions Government Silence
The Congress has questioned the Centre’s response after reports that Indian sailors were killed in a US military action involving commercial shipping in the Gulf region. Opposition leaders have accused the government of not doing enough to protect Indian citizens working on foreign vessels.
Gandhi also alleged that the government’s silence reflected weakness in India’s foreign policy posture. The BJP has not accepted the criticism and has previously defended the government’s handling of international security issues.
Strait Of Hormuz Row Intensifies
The Strait of Hormuz remains a key flashpoint amid tensions involving the United States, Iran and regional shipping routes. The waterway is crucial for global oil and gas trade, making any security disruption a major international concern.
The latest political exchange has brought India’s diplomatic response under sharper scrutiny, especially on the safety of Indian nationals in conflict-affected maritime zones.
