Emmanuel Macron Praises India At Bharat Innovates
French President Emmanuel Macron has described India as a country of innovation at the Bharat Innovates event in Nice, where he appeared alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event focused on deep technology, startups, research and stronger India-France cooperation in emerging sectors.
Macron Praises India Innovation Ecosystem
Macron said India had become a major innovation power and emphasised that the question was no longer whether India innovates, but who would innovate with India.
His remarks came at the Bharat Innovates event, which brought together startups, investors, academic institutions and industry leaders from India, France and other countries. The platform is designed to showcase Indian innovation to global partners.
Bharat Innovates Event In Nice
Bharat Innovates 2026 is a Government of India initiative organised by the Union Ministry of Education. The event is being held in Nice, France, and is focused on deep tech, research, startup scaling and global investment partnerships.
The event features 120 Indian innovators, higher education institutions and more than 500 investors, including venture capital firms, corporates and global industry leaders. It covers key sectors such as semiconductors, space technology, biotechnology, energy, healthcare, advanced computing and manufacturing.
India France Technology Partnership
PM Modi and Macron jointly inaugurated the event as part of wider efforts to deepen the India-France strategic partnership. The initiative is also linked to the India-France Year of Innovation, which was launched earlier this year.
The event is expected to strengthen collaboration in technology, research and cross-border investment. It also highlights India’s push to position itself as a global hub for deep-tech innovation and entrepreneurship.
