Rahul Gandhi Teases INDIA Bloc’s Next Move in CEC Row

Rahul Gandhi has said the INDIA bloc will continue its political campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, while refusing to disclose the Opposition’s next move.

Rahul Gandhi Teases INDIA Bloc’s Next Step

Speaking after a meeting of Opposition leaders at his residence, Gandhi said he did not want to reveal the strategy because it would “spoil the surprise”.

He said the protest movement would continue regardless of whether the next phase comes immediately or over a longer period, and insisted that the Opposition would pursue what it describes as its final political objective in the CEC-SIR dispute.

Opposition Says Political Resistance Will Continue

Gandhi said the INDIA bloc would maintain the same level of energy and coordination it showed during recent demonstrations against Gyanesh Kumar.

He also thanked the Supreme Court and Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, while stressing that the Opposition’s political campaign would continue independently of judicial proceedings.

The remarks came after Gandhi and 10 other Opposition leaders approached the Supreme Court over the electoral roll revision controversy.

Election Commission Rejects Bias Allegations

The Opposition has accused the Election Commission of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision process and has questioned the functioning of the poll panel under Kumar.

The Election Commission has rejected allegations of political bias and has maintained that decisions within the three-member body are taken unanimously or through the legally prescribed decision-making process.

The continuing dispute has become a major political flashpoint, with Opposition parties signalling that further protests and political action are planned.
