Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a US court dismissed criminal charges against industrialist Gautam Adani, alleging that India’s interests had been compromised to secure relief for the businessman. Gandhi did not present evidence showing that the Indian government influenced the US proceedings.

Reacting to the US court development, Gandhi claimed there was “much more to this than meets the eye” and alleged that a “compromised PM” had sold India’s interests.
The Congress leader has repeatedly accused the Modi government of favouring the Adani Group. The BJP and the conglomerate have consistently rejected such allegations.
Gandhi’s latest remarks seek to connect the outcome of the American proceedings with wider questions over India-US relations and the government’s handling of issues involving the Adani Group.
US Court Dismisses Charges Against Gautam Adani
A federal judge in New York dismissed criminal charges against Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar Adani after the US Department of Justice sought to withdraw the prosecution.
The dismissal was with prejudice, meaning the same charges cannot be refiled.
However, the dismissal did not amount to a trial verdict deciding whether the original allegations against the accused were true or false.
Adani Case Triggers Fresh Political Row
The US case had accused Adani and others of involvement in an alleged bribery and securities fraud scheme. The Adani Group consistently denied wrongdoing.
