Priyanka Gandhi Slams India’s Silence on Crisis in Gaza
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sharply rebuked the Indian government’s silence over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the inaction as “shameful” and tantamount to enabling violence.
Condemning Genocide Allegations and Civilian Suffering
Gandhi tweeted that over 60,000 Palestinians—among them more than 18,000 children—have died in the conflict. She accused Israel of committing genocide and said the ongoing starvation and violence in Gaza are being allowed to continue through “silence and inaction,” which she condemned as a crime in itself.
Al Jazeera Journalists Killed
She also denounced the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in a strike near Gaza City, calling it a “cold-blooded murder” and a “heinous crime.” Gandhi hailed the journalists’ courage and lamented attempts to suppress truth through such acts of violence.
Sharp Diplomatic Rebuttal
In response, Israel’s Ambassador to India harshly rejected Gandhi’s claims, accusing her of deceit. He challenged the casualty figures, describing them as driven by propaganda, and defended Israel’s actions—including efforts to deliver aid to Gaza—while placing blame on Hamas for exacerbating civilian casualties.
