President Honors Teachers on Teachers’ Day
On Teachers’ Day (September 5, 2025), President Droupadi Murmu presented national honours to teachers at a ceremony held in New Delhi. She underscored the vital role education plays in securing dignity and empowerment for individuals.
Teachers Shape Futures
Drawing on her own experience as an educator, the President highlighted that teachers help children—especially from disadvantaged backgrounds—“touch the skies of progress.” She emphasized that building character is the core responsibility of teachers, who balance intellect with empathy.
Smart Teachers, Not Just Smart Classrooms
While acknowledging the value of smart classrooms and digital tools, President Murmu said that “smart teachers”—those who understand students’ developmental needs—are far more critical to educational success.
Focus on Girls’ Education
The President called for greater attention to girls’ education, especially for those from underprivileged backgrounds. She noted that initiatives like Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and special education programs under NEP 2020 are meaningful only when supported by dedicated teachers.
Building a Knowledge Superpower
Emphasizing India’s ambition to become a global knowledge superpower, President Murmu said that teachers across school, higher, and skill education must rise to the challenge and lead the way.
