Ponting Endorses Arshdeep Singh for India’s Bowling Line-up
In light of Jasprit Bumrah’s injury ahead of the Champions Trophy, Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting has recommended Arshdeep Singh as the suitable replacement. Ponting highlighted Arshdeep’s proficiency with both the new ball and in death overs, drawing parallels to Bumrah’s skill set. He emphasized that Arshdeep’s left-arm pace offers a strategic variation, especially valuable against predominantly right-handed batting orders.
Ponting stated, “I would go with the left-armer and I’d go with Arshdeep (to replace Bumrah).” He further elaborated, “We know how good he’s been in T20 cricket and if you think about the skill set, he probably provides a similar skill set to what Bumrah does with new ball and death overs and that’s what India will miss.” This endorsement underscores Ponting’s confidence in Arshdeep’s ability to fill the void left by Bumrah’s absence.
