PM Modi Says India, Qatar United After Ras Laffan Tragedy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India and Qatar stand in solidarity after Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani conveyed condolences over the death of Indian nationals in the Ras Laffan explosion.

Ras Laffan Explosion Kills Indian Nationals

The incident at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar killed 13 people, including 12 Indian nationals, and injured several others. Ras Laffan is one of Qatar’s most important industrial and energy hubs, housing major gas and LNG infrastructure.

Indian authorities have said they are closely coordinating with Qatari officials to support the injured and assist the families of those who died. The Indian mission in Doha is also working on procedures related to the repatriation of mortal remains.

Qatar Emir Condoles Indian Deaths

Qatar’s Emir spoke with Prime Minister Modi and expressed grief over the loss of Indian lives in the accident. Modi thanked him for the call and said both countries shared the grief of the families affected by the tragedy.

The Prime Minister also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He said India and Qatar remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of their citizens.

India Qatar Ties After Ras Laffan Blast

The incident has drawn attention because of the large Indian workforce in Qatar and across the Gulf region. Thousands of Indian nationals work in energy, infrastructure, services and industrial sectors in Qatar.

The response from both governments signals close coordination after the tragedy. While the immediate focus remains on medical care, family support and repatriation, the accident is also expected to renew attention on worker safety at large industrial facilities in the Gulf.
