PM Modi Positions India as Stable Global Partner

India PM Narendra Modi has positioned India as a dependable economic and strategic partner amid growing global uncertainty, warning that international supply chains, energy resources and emerging technologies are increasingly being used as instruments of geopolitical pressure. Addressing a Bloomberg event in New Delhi on October 13, 2026, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s economic growth, policy reforms and technological capabilities.

PM Modi Highlights India’s Role in Global Stability

PM Modi said growing geopolitical tensions had exposed weaknesses in globalisation, with established trade routes and supply networks increasingly vulnerable to disruptions.

He identified energy supplies, critical minerals, payment systems and technology as areas where economic dependence could be exploited for strategic advantage.

The Prime Minister maintained that India’s approach focused on building international partnerships and supporting shared prosperity rather than pursuing economic dominance.

India’s 7.8% GDP Growth Reflects Economic Strength

Highlighting India’s economic performance, PM Modi cited the 7.8% GDP growth recorded during the April-June quarter of 2026 as evidence of the country’s underlying economic resilience.

He also pointed to improvements in India’s sovereign credit ratings and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening investment conditions.

The Prime Minister highlighted Goods and Services Tax reforms, labour reforms and measures improving the ease of doing business as important components of the government’s economic strategy.

He emphasised that reforms remained a continuing policy priority rather than merely a response to economic challenges.

Digital India and Technology Drive Global Cooperation

PM Modi highlighted India’s digital public infrastructure, affordable mobile internet, digital payments and direct benefit transfers as examples of technology supporting financial inclusion.

He argued that technological advancement should expand opportunities rather than become a means of exercising control over other countries.

The Prime Minister described India’s approach as using economic and technological capabilities to empower partners and strengthen international cooperation.

His remarks reinforced the government’s broader objective of positioning India as a reliable destination for investment, manufacturing and technology partnerships amid changing global economic conditions.
