PM Modi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary on October 2, saying Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, compassion and service continue to guide humanity and remain relevant across generations.

Marking Gandhi Jayanti, Modi said Mahatma Gandhi’s life had inspired people around the world and described his principles as a continuing source of moral and social guidance.
The Prime Minister said Gandhi’s message should remain connected with humanity and contribute towards building a better society and a developed India.
He also highlighted Gandhi’s emphasis on self-reliance and the use of locally produced goods as part of his broader philosophy of national development.
Modi Urges Citizens to Promote Swadeshi
Modi used the occasion to call on citizens to support Swadeshi products, particularly Khadi, which was closely associated with Gandhi and India’s freedom movement.
He urged people to purchase at least one Khadi product on October 2 and take pride in supporting goods made in India.
The appeal comes as the government continues promoting domestic manufacturing, local production and economic self-reliance under its broader development programmes.
Gandhi’s Ideals of Truth and Non-Violence Remembered
Modi also shared a Sanskrit verse highlighting values such as compassion, friendship, humility, forgiveness and freedom from hatred.
He said Gandhi’s life represented truth, non-violence, compassion and service, values that would continue to illuminate humanity’s path in every era.
October 2 is observed across India as Gandhi Jayanti and internationally as the International Day of Non-Violence.
