India Crush Sri Lanka to Reach Asian Games Final
India stormed into the men’s cricket gold medal match at the 2026 Asian Games with a crushing 124-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second semi-final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Ishan Kishan Powers India to 169/7
After Sri Lanka opted to bowl on a spin-friendly surface, India recovered from early setbacks to post 169/7 in 20 overs.
Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson both fell for seven, leaving India at 24/2, before Vaibhav Sooryavanshi counter-attacked with 38 from 21 balls, striking six fours and two sixes.
Ishan Kishan then took control of the innings with an unbeaten 80 from 46 deliveries. His knock included four fours and five sixes as India accelerated strongly through the middle and death overs.
Sri Lanka captain Sahan Arachchige finished with 2/28, while Tharindu Ratnayake took 2/32.
Bumrah, Axar Trigger Sri Lanka Collapse
Sri Lanka’s chase unravelled almost immediately as Jasprit Bumrah struck twice in his opening over before the batting side had scored.
Axar Patel then removed Arachchige and Ashen Bandara in quick succession, while sharp Indian fielding produced multiple run-outs.
Sri Lanka slumped to 31/6 inside the Powerplay and never recovered.
India Set Up Gold Medal Clash With Pakistan
Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi maintained the pressure before Abhishek Sharma claimed the final two wickets on successive deliveries.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 45 in 9.5 overs. Bumrah finished with 2/7, Axar took 2/8 and Abhishek returned 2/2.
India will now face Pakistan in the Asian Games gold medal match, while Sri Lanka meet Bangladesh for bronze.
