PM Modi Highlights India’s Rural Transformation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the gap between urban and rural India has narrowed significantly over the past 12 years, highlighting improvements in village infrastructure and growing economic participation by women across the country.

Modi made the remarks during a virtual interaction with Seva Yatris travelling from Varanasi to Vadnagar under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
He said rural India had witnessed substantial improvements in infrastructure and basic amenities, reducing differences between villages and cities. The government has over the years expanded programmes covering housing, roads, electricity, drinking water, sanitation and other essential services in rural areas.
Modi said these changes had contributed to improving living standards and creating new economic opportunities outside major urban centres.
Women’s Self-Reliance Key to India’s Progress
The Prime Minister also highlighted what he described as growing self-reliance and economic empowerment among Indian women.
Women’s participation in self-help groups, entrepreneurship and rural livelihood programmes has become an important part of the government’s development strategy, with several schemes aimed at expanding access to credit, employment opportunities and financial independence.
Modi linked women-led development and rural transformation to India’s broader goal of becoming a developed country.
Seva Sankalp Yatra Links Varanasi and Vadnagar
During the interaction, Modi stressed the importance of social service, reform and public participation in building a Viksit Bharat.
He said Vadnagar had shaped the values of his early life, while Varanasi had added new dimensions of public service to those values.
The participating Seva Yatris also shared their experiences from the journey. Modi encouraged them to maintain diaries documenting their interactions and experiences during the Yatra.
