PM Modi Calls Paper Leak Prevention a National Duty
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described preventing examination paper leaks as a national responsibility, calling for a secure and transparent testing system amid continuing protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
Modi Addresses NEET Paper Leak
Speaking at a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance’s parliamentary party, Modi said the future of India’s youth must remain the priority. He urged political parties to avoid partisan politics and work collectively to protect the integrity of public examinations.
The prime minister called for a foolproof system capable of preventing leaks and ensuring that students are not disadvantaged by malpractice. He also stressed that those responsible for compromising examinations must face strict punishment.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju later briefed reporters about Modi’s comments, describing the issue as a matter requiring national attention rather than political point-scoring.
Government Promises Examination Reforms
The remarks represent Modi’s most direct intervention in the controversy since youth protests intensified. Investigating agencies have made arrests connected to the alleged leak, while affected examinations and results have faced scrutiny.
The government has said it is strengthening security protocols and taking action against individuals involved in examination malpractice. Protesters, however, are demanding broader institutional reforms and accountability from senior officials.
CJP Protest Over NEET Row
The youth-led CJP movement has organised demonstrations demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, compensation for affected students and comprehensive reforms to India’s examination system.
Tensions escalated during a march towards Parliament in Delhi, where protesters and police clashed. Activist Sonam Wangchuk also began a prolonged hunger strike in support of the agitation and was later hospitalised.
Modi’s comments signal acknowledgement at the highest level of concerns raised by students, although the government has not accepted the demand for Pradhan’s resignation.
