PM Modi Begins Three-Nation Indo-Pacific Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a six-day visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand on July 6, with the tour focused on economic cooperation, strategic partnerships, trade, investment and diaspora engagement across the Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi Three Nation Visit

PM Modi will visit Indonesia from July 6 to 8 at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto. This is his fourth visit to Indonesia and his first bilateral visit since India and Indonesia elevated ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018.

During the Indonesia leg, PM Modi will hold talks with President Prabowo and review cooperation across key sectors. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora and visit the Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta.

India Australia Strategic Partnership

From Indonesia, PM Modi will travel to Melbourne from July 8 to 10 at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The two leaders are expected to discuss defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility and people-to-people ties.

The visit will also focus on emerging and critical technologies, sports and sports science. PM Modi is scheduled to engage with the Indian community in Australia, which remains an important pillar of the bilateral relationship.

India New Zealand Trade Ties

PM Modi will visit Auckland from July 10 to 11 at the invitation of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. The visit comes after the signing of the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement earlier this year.

The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to expand trade, commercial engagement and investment. The New Zealand leg is significant as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 40 years.

The wider tour is expected to strengthen India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision and Indo-Pacific engagement.
