Odisha Draft Roll Drops 20 Lakh Names
Odisha’s draft electoral roll has been published after the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision exercise, with more than 20 lakh names identified for deletion. Election officials said genuine voters whose names are missing can still apply for inclusion during the claims and objections window.
Odisha SIR Draft Electoral Roll
The draft roll was released after a month-long house-to-house enumeration drive conducted between May 30 and June 28. Odisha had about 3.33 crore electors before the revision process, while the draft roll now contains around 3.13 crore voters.
The updated draft includes about 1.60 crore male voters, 1.53 crore female voters and 2,775 third-gender electors. Officials said the exercise was carried out to remove ineligible, duplicate and outdated entries from the voter list.
Odisha Voter Names Deleted
According to election officials, around 20.14 lakh names were excluded from the draft electoral roll. Of these, 8.32 lakh were found to be deceased, while 10.07 lakh had either shifted residence or remained absent during the verification process.
Another 1.58 lakh names were found registered at multiple locations. Around 14,000 voters were also excluded after they failed to submit enumeration forms within the deadline.
Claims And Objections Process
The Chief Electoral Officer said voters whose names are missing from the draft roll can file claims for inclusion. Applications can be submitted through local Booth Level Officers, the ECINET mobile app or the voters’ portal.
Claims and objections will remain open from July 5 to August 4. Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers will scrutinise applications, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on September 6.
