PM Modi Bats for ‘Uniform Civil Code’ and ‘One Nation, One Election’ on National Unity Day
On National Unity Day, observed on October 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized unity and national integrity during a significant event held near the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat.
Highlighting major governance initiatives, PM Modi reiterated his government’s focus on “One Nation, One Election” to streamline simultaneous elections for both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, aimed at optimizing resources and enhancing democratic strength.
Push for Uniform Civil Code and National Unity
Prime Minister Modi also underscored the importance of implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across India, a move he believes is vital for maintaining equality and cohesion. Further, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is regarded as a symbol of national unity. PM Modi announced a two-year commemoration of Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, honoring his unparalleled contributions to India’s unification after independence.

PM Modi addressed the impact of revoking Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring how this move enabled equal voting rights and constitutional governance in the region for the first time.
