Piyush Goyal Holds Trade Talks With UK Minister
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held talks with UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle in London, with both sides reviewing the next steps for implementing the India-UK trade agreement and strengthening bilateral economic ties.
India UK Trade Agreement Talks
Goyal said he held meaningful discussions with Kyle on expanding India-UK trade and investment cooperation. The meeting comes ahead of the expected entry into force of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement and the companion Double Contribution Convention.
The discussions focused on preparations for implementing the trade pact, including regulatory coordination, customs facilitation and tariff liberalisation commitments aimed at improving market access for Indian exports.

The two ministers also reviewed the operational roadmap for the Double Contribution Convention, which is expected to support greater mobility for professionals and businesses between the two countries.
The talks covered market access in services sectors, measures to deepen investment flows and steps to help businesses benefit from the new trade framework. Both sides are working to ensure that the agreement translates into practical gains for exporters, companies and skilled professionals.
India UK Economic Cooperation
During his London visit, Goyal is also engaging with industry leaders, investors and senior executives from major global companies. These discussions are part of India’s wider effort to strengthen economic partnerships with global businesses.
He is also scheduled to participate in business sessions linked to the India Global Forum and other industry-led engagements.
Bilateral Trade Target By 2030
India and the UK are aiming to raise bilateral trade to 120 billion dollars by 2030. The latest ministerial engagement signals continued focus on timely implementation of the trade pact and stronger cooperation in services, investment, innovation and manufacturing.
