Pinarayi Vijayan Says Rahul Gandhi’s Approach Helps BJP

Kerala Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his political approach does not strengthen the INDIA bloc and often benefits the BJP. The remarks came amid renewed tensions between the Congress and CPI(M) over opposition unity and political strategy in Kerala.

Pinarayi Vijayan Targets Rahul Gandhi

Vijayan said Rahul Gandhi’s approach was not helping the larger opposition alliance and instead created political space for the BJP. He accused the Congress leader of taking positions that weaken coordination among parties opposed to the ruling BJP at the national level.

His comments followed Rahul Gandhi’s reported remarks during an INDIA bloc meeting, where the Congress leader referred to his political disagreements with the CPI(M) in Kerala.

INDIA Bloc Rift In Kerala

The Congress and CPI(M) are part of the INDIA bloc at the national level, but they remain direct rivals in Kerala. This has repeatedly created friction between the two parties, especially during elections and alliance meetings.

CPI(M) leaders have objected to the Congress campaign in Kerala, particularly allegations linking the Left with the BJP. They argue that such attacks damage opposition unity and help the BJP politically.

Congress CPI(M) Political Tensions

The latest exchange reflects the continuing challenge of managing state-level rivalries within the INDIA bloc. While opposition parties seek a united national front against the BJP, local political compulsions continue to create disagreements.

Vijayan’s remarks also indicate that the CPI(M) wants the Congress to adopt a more coordinated approach with regional and Left parties. The dispute is likely to remain a key point of discussion within the alliance.
