Pawan Kalyan Criticizes Congress Leaders Over Pro-Pakistan Remarks
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched a scathing attack on Congress leaders for their controversial remarks perceived as sympathetic toward Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. Emphasizing the importance of standing firmly with the nation during a time of crisis, Kalyan condemned any statements that undermined national unity.
“Leave India If You Support Pakistan,” Says Pawan Kalyan
Addressing a gathering, Pawan Kalyan said, “Some leaders are declaring love for Pakistan on television. You cannot live in India and love Pakistan. If you love Pakistan so much, leave India.” He added that during times of terror attacks against India, there should be no ambiguity about where one’s loyalties lie.
The strong remarks have resonated with a large section of the public, especially as emotions run high following the massacre in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region.
Congress Leaders Draw Flak for Their Statements
The criticism comes in response to comments made by certain Congress leaders. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned the aggressive stance against Pakistan, suggesting that stricter internal security measures were preferable to military conflict. Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz also stirred controversy by arguing against suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and advocating dialogue with Pakistan.
Such statements have drawn widespread condemnation, with many accusing Congress leaders of weakening India’s position at a time when the country needs to show resilience and unity.
Congress Attempts to Contain Damage
Facing backlash, the Congress party has moved quickly to distance itself from these individual remarks. Senior party leaders reiterated that Congress stands firmly with the government and the armed forces in defending India’s sovereignty. The party leadership stressed that national interest must override political rhetoric, especially when the country is dealing with external threats.
The controversy has once again spotlighted the political divide in India over how to handle Pakistan, especially in the wake of terror attacks that claim civilian lives.
