Marco Rubio To Visit India After NATO Meeting
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to India from May 23 to 26 after attending a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Sweden, with trade, energy security and defence cooperation expected to be key areas of discussion.

Rubio’s India visit will include stops in Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi. During the visit, he is expected to meet senior Indian officials and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Washington and New Delhi.
The visit comes amid efforts by both countries to manage differences over trade while continuing cooperation on defence, energy and Indo-Pacific security.
NATO Meeting In Sweden
Before arriving in India, Rubio will attend the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, on May 22. The meeting is expected to focus on defence spending, burden sharing and alliance readiness.
Rubio is also expected to meet ministers from Arctic countries to discuss shared economic and security interests in the region.
India US Trade And Defence Talks
In India, discussions are likely to cover energy security, defence ties, trade cooperation and critical supply chains. The visit comes as both sides continue work on a new trade arrangement after tensions linked to high US tariffs.
The Quad framework may also feature in the broader diplomatic context, especially with India, the United States, Japan and Australia working together on Indo-Pacific issues and resilient supply chains.
