Mamata Tells TMC Agents To Stay Put
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked Trinamool Congress counting agents not to leave counting centres, even as early trends showed the BJP ahead in the state on May 4.
Mamata Banerjee Message To TMC Agents
Mamata Banerjee addressed party counting agents through a video message and urged them not to be afraid or discouraged by early trends. She said only a few rounds of counting had been completed and asked workers to wait until all rounds were over.
She also claimed that the TMC would win after sunset, signalling confidence in a late recovery as counting progressed.
BJP Leads In Bengal Early Trends
At the time of her message, the BJP was leading in early trends in West Bengal, while the Trinamool Congress was trailing. The early numbers created pressure on the ruling party, which has governed the state since 2011.
However, the results were still based on initial rounds, and the final outcome could change as more EVM votes were counted.
Bengal Election Counting Continues
Banerjee also asked TMC candidates and agents to remain vigilant at counting centres and monitor the process closely. Her message appeared aimed at preventing demoralisation among party workers during a tense counting day.
Counting is continuing across West Bengal under Election Commission supervision and tight security.
