Mamata Banerjee Rejects Bengal Exit Polls
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has dismissed exit poll projections for the Assembly election, calling them a “market manipulation attempt” and claiming that the Trinamool Congress will return to power with more than 200 seats.
Mamata Banerjee Rejects Exit Polls
Banerjee rejected the credibility of exit polls and said they did not reflect the actual voting pattern in West Bengal. She claimed that the projections were being used to create confusion before the official counting of votes.
The TMC chief said her party would win more than 200 seats in the 294-member Assembly. A party or alliance needs 148 seats to form the government in West Bengal.
TMC Predicts Over 200 Seats
Banerjee said the Trinamool Congress had received strong support from voters across the state. She also accused political opponents of using exit poll numbers to weaken the morale of TMC workers before counting day.
Her remarks came after several exit polls showed a tight contest between the TMC and the BJP, with some projections giving the BJP an edge. The TMC has rejected those forecasts and maintained that the final results will prove the predictions wrong.
Bengal Counting On May 4
The official counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly election is scheduled for May 4. Political parties have asked their workers to remain alert at counting centres and strongrooms until the process is completed.
The Election Commission will announce the final result after counting is completed across all constituencies. Until then, exit poll projections remain unofficial estimates and do not represent the final verdict of voters.
