Lucknow Coaching Centre Fire Kills 15
The fire broke out in a three-storey building in the Purnia area of Aliganj, where students were attending classes at a coaching centre. Several people were trapped inside as flames and thick smoke spread through the structure.
Some students reportedly jumped from the first floor in a desperate attempt to escape, while emergency teams and local residents helped rescue those trapped inside. Several injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.
Aliganj Fire Safety Violations Under Probe
Authorities have launched a probe into the cause of the blaze, with preliminary findings suggesting that the fire may have started in an air-conditioning duct. The building reportedly housed multiple commercial activities, including a coaching centre, gaming facility and pet-related establishments.
The incident has raised serious questions over fire safety compliance, emergency exits and the functioning of commercial establishments in buildings used by students and young people.
SIT Probe Ordered In Lucknow Fire
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a Special Investigation Team to examine the incident and submit its report within seven days. The state government has also announced financial assistance for the families of those who died.
Following the tragedy, four people have been arrested and action has been initiated against officials over alleged lapses. The Lucknow Development Authority has also issued a fresh demolition notice for the building as questions grow over whether earlier warnings and construction violations were ignored.
