LNG Carrier Disha Reaches Dahej Port
The Malta-flagged LNG carrier Disha has reached Dahej Port in Gujarat after crossing the Strait of Hormuz, marking a key movement for India’s energy supply chain as shipping activity resumes through the sensitive Gulf route.
LNG Carrier Disha Reaches Dahej Port
The LNG carrier Disha docked at Dahej Port on Friday with 62,370 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas. The vessel’s arrival is significant as it travelled through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime corridor that had faced disruptions due to heightened tensions in West Asia.
The tanker is managed by a consortium led by the Shipping Corporation of India. Its successful arrival has brought relief to energy logistics operators and reinforced the importance of secure maritime routes for India’s fuel imports.
Strait Of Hormuz Shipping Resumes
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important passages for oil and gas shipments. Any disruption in the waterway can quickly affect global energy markets, freight movement and supply planning.
Disha’s transit came after shipping activity began returning through the route following diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the region. The movement of energy cargo through Hormuz is being closely watched by governments, refiners and shipping companies.
India LNG Supply Chain
The arrival of the LNG cargo at Dahej highlights India’s dependence on stable sea routes for energy security. Liquefied natural gas remains important for power generation, city gas distribution and industrial fuel demand.
The development also underlines the role of Gujarat’s ports in handling strategic energy imports. With global energy markets still sensitive to West Asia developments, the safe arrival of Disha is being viewed as an important signal for India’s supply continuity.
