Lightning Strikes IndiGo Patna-Lucknow Flight

An IndiGo flight from Patna to Lucknow was struck by lightning while approaching its destination, damaging the aircraft’s nose but leaving all 104 passengers and six crew members unharmed.

IndiGo Flight 6E925 Hit by Lightning Mid-Air

Flight 6E925 was operating its scheduled Patna-Lucknow service on October 7 when it encountered a lightning strike during the journey.

The impact caused visible damage to the nose section of the aircraft. Despite the incident, the pilots continued the approach and landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow.

The flight arrived around eight minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time.

104 Passengers and Six Crew Members Safe

All 104 passengers and six crew members aboard the aircraft were reported safe, with no injuries recorded.

Photographs taken after landing showed significant damage to the aircraft’s nose following the lightning strike.

Modern commercial aircraft are designed with systems that help safely conduct electrical energy from lightning strikes through the airframe, although inspections are required after such incidents to identify any structural or systems damage.

Aircraft Grounded for DGCA Inspection

The aircraft was grounded at Lucknow airport following the incident and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation was informed.

Technical teams will inspect the aircraft and assess the damage before it is permitted to return to service.

The aircraft will remain grounded until it receives the necessary regulatory clearance.

The incident occurred amid thunderstorm and lightning activity across parts of northern India.
