Lamine Yamal Expected Fit for World Cup Final

Lamine Yamal trained separately from Spain’s main squad as preparations continued for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final against Argentina. The winger was seen with strapping around his left thigh, although Spanish officials expect him to be available for Sunday’s title clash.

Lamine Yamal Trains Separately

Yamal completed an individual training programme during Spain’s session in New Jersey rather than joining the full squad.

The 19-year-old appeared to be carrying minor discomfort after Spain’s physically demanding 2-0 semifinal victory over France. He was also seen limping after the match, raising concerns about his fitness before the final.

However, the Spanish football federation described the separate session as a precautionary measure related to workload management. Yamal is understood to be dealing with bruising and soreness rather than a serious injury.

Spain Expect Yamal to Face Argentina

Spain remain confident that Yamal will be available to start against Argentina. Head coach Luis de la Fuente has not indicated that the Barcelona attacker is in danger of missing the final.

Defender Pedro Porro also trained separately from the main group while managing a minor hamstring problem. Like Yamal, Porro is expected to be fit for the match.

The remainder of the Spanish squad completed the session normally despite hot and humid conditions.

Messi and Yamal Set for Final

The final will feature a highly anticipated meeting between Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Yamal, two players representing different generations of Barcelona football.

Spain reached the final by defeating France, while Argentina secured their place with a semifinal victory over England.

The World Cup final will be played on Sunday, July 19, with Spain seeking their second title and Argentina attempting to retain the trophy.
