Kerala Flood Toll Rises to 11
Heavy monsoon rain and flooding across Kerala have killed at least 11 people, while more than 7,600 residents have been moved to relief camps as emergency operations continue.

The fatalities were reported in separate rain-related incidents as intense downpours triggered flooding, landslides, falling trees and other hazards across the State. Authorities continued assessing damage and monitoring vulnerable areas amid concerns that unstable slopes and swollen water bodies could create further risks.
Kerala received about 13.9 cm of rain between July 31 and August 2, more than three times the normal rainfall recorded for the period. The unusually heavy spell caused rivers and reservoirs to swell and left several low-lying areas waterlogged.
Kerala Relief Camps Shelter Thousands
More than 7,600 displaced people have taken shelter in relief camps opened by district administrations. Rescue and relief teams have been deployed to assist families in flooded neighbourhoods and communities exposed to landslide threats.
Officials have advised residents in vulnerable locations to follow evacuation instructions and avoid rivers, waterfalls, reservoirs and inundated roads. People living near riverbanks and downstream from dams have also been asked to remain prepared to relocate if water levels rise.
Kerala Heavy Rain Alerts Continue
Weather officials issued a yellow alert for 10 districts on Monday, warning of isolated heavy rain and strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph. Rough sea conditions and high waves were also forecast along parts of the Kerala coast.
Fishermen have been advised against venturing into dangerous waters. Disaster-management authorities are maintaining surveillance as rain continues, with residents urged to avoid unnecessary travel and report damaged trees, power lines or structures.
