Karoline Leavitt to Leave White House Role
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her role at the end of August 2026, President Donald Trump has announced. Leavitt said she was stepping away from the demanding position to spend more time with her two young children, but will remain connected to Trump’s political operation as an outside adviser.

Leavitt, 28, said balancing motherhood with the demands of serving as White House Press Secretary had become increasingly difficult following the birth of her second child, a daughter, in May.
She recently returned to work after maternity leave but said the position required a level of constant time and attention that made it difficult to be the mother she wanted to be.
Leavitt has served as Trump’s Press Secretary since January 2025 and became the youngest person ever to hold the position.
Trump Praises Karoline Leavitt
Trump praised Leavitt’s performance and described her as one of the best Press Secretaries in White House history.
He highlighted her work with his political movement since 2018 and her role during his successful 2024 presidential campaign.
Leavitt previously served as a Trump campaign spokesperson before taking charge of the White House press operation.
Leavitt to Remain Trump Adviser
Although leaving her official White House role, Leavitt is expected to continue working with Trump as an outside communications adviser and remain involved with the wider MAGA political movement.
Her tenure featured significant changes to White House media access, including greater participation by podcasts, digital platforms and other non-traditional media outlets.
No successor to Leavitt has yet been announced.
