Jharkhand Students Reject 98% Claim, Seek CBI Probe
Protesting job aspirants in Jharkhand have rejected the state government’s claim that 98% of their demands have been addressed, insisting that their agitation will continue until a CBI investigation is ordered into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.

Student representatives said the government’s concessions do not resolve their central demand for an independent CBI investigation, particularly into alleged irregularities surrounding the JSSC Combined Graduate Level examination.
The protesters have also disputed the government’s assessment that only a small portion of their demands remains unresolved. They say important concerns involving examination cancellations, accountability and investigation mechanisms are still outstanding.
Jharkhand Government Claims 98% Demands Met
The Hemant Soren government said it had accepted around 98% of the points raised during several rounds of negotiations.
It agreed to address alleged irregularities involving the 14th JPSC examination and the 2023 and 2025 backlog recruitments. Criminal aspects will be investigated by the CID, while the state plans to seek an Enforcement Directorate probe into suspected financial transactions.
A fast-track court is also planned, with charge sheets expected within 90 days.
Protesters Continue Jharkhand Exam Stir
The government has proposed an expert committee involving institutions such as IIT-ISM, IIM Ranchi and XLRI to recommend reforms to the recruitment examination system.
However, it has rejected demands to cancel the JSSC-CGL examination, arguing that the matter is under judicial supervision and successful candidates have already joined service.
Students have maintained that the protest will continue until a CBI probe is announced, keeping the standoff over Jharkhand’s recruitment examinations unresolved.
