Jaishankar Says India Africa Ties Show Stability

India’s ties with Africa send a message of “stability” and “reliability” in a turbulent global environment, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said while launching the theme, logo and website for the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi. He said the partnership has gained greater importance as the world faces complex geopolitical and geo-economic pressures.

India Africa Ties Highlight Stability

Jaishankar said the India-Africa relationship is not only about development but also about helping shape a better world. He described the partnership as one built on solidarity in difficult times and said it carries added weight when many parts of the world are facing uncertainty.

He also said the partnership seeks not just economic growth but meaningful transformation, with a focus on empowering people, strengthening institutions and creating new opportunities. India and Africa, he added, are now exploring new frontiers in digital technology as part of that engagement.

Fourth India Africa Forum Summit In New Delhi

The remarks came ahead of the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit, which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on May 31, 2026. The summit will be the first such gathering in a decade, following earlier editions in 2008, 2011 and 2015.

The Ministry of External Affairs has said the summit will bring together leaders from across Africa, the African Union Commission and regional organisations to strengthen the long-standing India-Africa partnership and set a roadmap for wider cooperation.

India Africa Partnership Gains Strategic Importance

Jaishankar’s remarks underline how New Delhi is positioning Africa as an important diplomatic, economic and strategic partner at a time of growing global instability. The upcoming summit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors while reinforcing political trust between the two sides.
