Jadeja Returns, Saransh Jain Earns Test Call-Up
India has recalled Ravindra Jadeja and handed Madhya Pradesh off-spin all-rounder Saransh Jain his maiden international call-up for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill will captain the 15-member squad, with KL Rahul continuing as vice-captain.
Saransh Jain Earns Maiden Test Call-Up
The 33-year-old Jain has been selected after consistent performances in domestic cricket and for India A. He has taken 188 wickets in 54 first-class matches at an average of 27.30.
The left-handed batter has also scored 2,223 first-class runs, including two centuries and 14 half-centuries. During the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, he claimed 30 wickets and scored 518 runs for Madhya Pradesh.
Jain recently represented India A in two unofficial Tests in Sri Lanka, taking seven wickets and scoring an unbeaten 70 in the second match.
Ravindra Jadeja Returns to India Squad
Jadeja returns after being rested for India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan in June. He will lead the spin department alongside Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar and Jain.
Washington Sundar was unavailable for selection for the opening Test, creating an opportunity for Jain to join the national squad.
Manav Suthar has retained his place after taking seven wickets on his Test debut against Afghanistan.
Bumrah Selection Subject to Fitness
Jasprit Bumrah has been included but must receive fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Batter Sai Sudharsan’s availability is also subject to fitness approval.
The first Test will be played in Galle from August 15, followed by the second match in Colombo from August 23. India will also play a four-day practice match beginning August 7.
