Israel Strikes Kill 41 In Lebanon
Israeli air strikes across southern Lebanon have killed at least 41 people in 24 hours, according to Lebanese health officials, raising concerns over the fragile ceasefire that was declared in April.
Israeli Air Strikes In Lebanon
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the latest strikes on Saturday killed at least 10 people, taking the 24-hour toll to 41. The attacks were reported in several areas of southern Lebanon, including towns in Nabatieh and Tyre districts.
The strikes came despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and later extended until mid-May.
Southern Lebanon Death Toll Rises
Lebanese reports said three people were killed in Shoukine, two in Kfar Dajjal and three others in Lwaizeh after a house was hit. Another strike reportedly killed two people in Shoukin.
Since March 2, the conflict has killed more than 2,600 people in Lebanon and injured over 8,000 others. More than one million people have also been registered as displaced since the war began.
Israel-Hezbollah Conflict Continues
Israel has said its operations are aimed at Hezbollah positions. Hezbollah, meanwhile, has claimed attacks on Israeli troops and military vehicles in southern Lebanon.
The fighting began after Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Despite diplomatic efforts, the ceasefire remains under strain as both sides continue military operations.
