Iran Sets Conditions For US Talks

Iran has reportedly set five preconditions for any renewed talks with the United States, as diplomatic efforts continue through Pakistan amid a fragile ceasefire and rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran-US Talks Face New Conditions

Iran has said it will not enter another round of negotiations with Washington unless minimum trust-building guarantees are met. The reported conditions include ending hostilities on all fronts, lifting sanctions, releasing frozen Iranian assets, compensating Iran for war-related damage and recognising Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

The demands were reportedly conveyed in response to a 14-point US proposal aimed at reducing tensions and restoring negotiations.

Iran Rejects Nuclear Concessions

Iranian officials have also signalled that the country’s nuclear technology and uranium enrichment programme will not be part of any possible talks with the United States. A senior Iranian parliament official warned that Tehran could increase uranium enrichment levels if it faces another attack.

Washington, meanwhile, has said its proposal is centred on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump has described the current ceasefire as fragile.

Strait Of Hormuz Remains Key Flashpoint

The Strait of Hormuz remains central to the dispute after tensions disrupted global energy markets. The US proposal reportedly includes reopening the waterway in exchange for a gradual easing of the naval blockade, along with partial sanctions relief linked to limits on Iran’s nuclear programme.

The UK and France have also moved towards a multinational escort mission in the region, highlighting the growing international concern over energy security and maritime movement.
