Iran IRGC Appeals to US Voters Before Midterms
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued an open letter directly addressing American voters ahead of the US midterm elections, sharply criticising President Donald Trump and urging voters to reject policies associated with his administration.
IRGC Targets US Voters Ahead of Midterms
The lengthy letter accused Trump of misleading Americans about Iran’s nuclear programme, the war with Iran and the condition of the US economy.
The IRGC argued that American voters have the power to influence Washington’s policies through the ballot box and urged them to oppose political leaders who support continued military confrontation with Tehran.
The intervention comes ahead of the November midterm elections, where control of the US Congress will be at stake.
Iran Attacks Trump Over War and Nuclear Policy
The letter accused Trump of pursuing an aggressive foreign policy and claimed that Washington had misrepresented Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Tehran maintains that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes, while Washington has insisted that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
The IRGC also criticised US support for Israel and called for a broader change in American policy towards the Middle East.
It argued that peaceful coexistence between Iran and the United States remained possible if Washington changed its approach.
Iran Letter Adds New Dimension to US Election
The direct appeal to American voters represents an unusual intervention by Iran’s powerful military organisation in US domestic politics.
The IRGC also used the letter to defend its own record and challenge US accusations against the organisation. The United States has designated the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organisation.
The letter comes as Washington and Tehran remain locked in military and diplomatic confrontation, with ceasefire negotiations yet to produce a lasting breakthrough.
