Iran Army Offers $30,000 Bounty on US Troops
Iran’s Army chief General Amir Hatami has announced a reward equivalent to around $30,000 for anyone who kills or captures and hands over a US military member, with the amount doubled to approximately $60,000 if carried out by an Iranian woman. The announcement comes amid heightened military tensions between Tehran and Washington.
Iran Army Announces $30,000 US Soldier Bounty
Hatami said the Iranian Army would provide a reward of five billion tomans, equivalent to roughly $30,000, for killing or capturing what he described as an invading American service member.
He said Iranian women carrying out such an action would receive double the amount. The Army chief said the initiative followed requests from people seeking to financially support actions against US forces.
$60,000 Reward Offered to Iranian Women
Hatami did not specify where or under what circumstances the rewards could be claimed.
There is no known large-scale deployment of US ground troops inside Iran, although tens of thousands of American military personnel are stationed across the wider Middle East.
The announcement therefore appears directed primarily at US forces operating across the region amid the continuing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
US-Iran Military Tensions Continue to Escalate
The bounty announcement comes as Iran continues demanding the withdrawal of US forces from the Middle East.
Tehran has also adopted an increasingly confrontational position over American military operations in the region, including developments surrounding the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.
The latest declaration adds another layer of tension to already strained US-Iran relations as both sides maintain significant military deployments across the region.
