Mobile internet services were suspended in parts of Jaipur and prohibitory orders were imposed ahead of a major anti-encroachment drive by the Jaipur Development Authority to clear structures obstructing a road-widening project.

Jaipur Internet Suspension For Anti-Encroachment Drive

The Jaipur administration suspended mobile internet services in several police station areas under Jaipur North and Jaipur East police districts from midnight on June 8. The order covered mobile internet, bulk SMS and social media services as a precautionary measure.

Officials said the restrictions were imposed to prevent rumours, misinformation and any possible disturbance during the demolition exercise.

JDA Anti-Encroachment Drive In Nandpuri

The anti-encroachment action is linked to a road-widening project near the Nandpuri underpass area. The Jaipur Development Authority identified structures falling within the right of way, including religious structures, for removal as part of the clearance drive.

Authorities deployed a heavy police force in the area to maintain law and order. Public movement around the action zone was restricted, while security arrangements were strengthened before the drive began.

Prohibitory Orders Imposed In Jaipur

Prohibitory orders were also imposed to restrict gatherings, protests and movement that could affect public order during the operation. Officials said the measures were temporary and aimed at ensuring that the drive was carried out peacefully.

The administration has maintained that the action is part of an anti-encroachment and road-widening process, while security agencies remain on alert to prevent any communal tension or unrest.
