Indian Army to Acquire 12 Regiments of Pinaka Mk-II MLRS
The Indian Army is poised to enhance its artillery strength with the procurement of 12 regiments of the advanced Pinaka Mk-II Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System (MLRS). This move is part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to modernize its arsenal and improve long-range firepower capabilities.
Enhanced Firepower with Pinaka Mk-II
The Pinaka Mk-II is a state-of-the-art, long-range artillery system designed to meet the Army’s operational requirements for precision and impact. The upgraded system boasts an extended range of up to 75 kilometers, significantly surpassing the previous version’s range of 40 kilometers. Equipped with improved accuracy and target engagement capabilities, the Pinaka Mk-II will be a crucial asset in providing fire support during operations.
Indigenous Development for Self-Reliance
The Pinaka Mk-II MLRS is an indigenously developed system, reinforcing the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) initiative. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with private defense manufacturers, the system represents a significant step in advancing India’s domestic defense capabilities.
