India Slams Pakistan Over PoK Crackdown

India has strongly criticised Pakistan over reports of deadly violence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, accusing Islamabad of using force against protesters and trying to hide its governance failures through repression.

India Condemns PoK Protest Violence

The Ministry of External Affairs said India continues to see a pattern of “horrific human rights violations” by Pakistan against people in territories under its illegal occupation.

New Delhi said Pakistan must be held accountable for its actions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where protests have intensified over political, economic and civil rights concerns.

PoK Crackdown Sparks Fresh Tension

The latest unrest followed action against the Joint Awami Action Committee, which has led protests on issues including electricity prices, subsidies, governance and political representation.

Reports said at least 11 people were killed and dozens injured during clashes between protesters and security forces. The violence erupted ahead of a planned shutdown called by protest groups in the region.

Pakistan Accused Of Hiding Failures

India said Pakistan’s use of force was a desperate attempt to cover up its own failures and silence public anger. The MEA also rejected attempts to shift blame for the unrest, saying Pakistan cannot hide the ground reality through propaganda.

The developments have again brought attention to conditions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where public protests have grown in recent years over rising costs, lack of rights and alleged administrative neglect.
