India Rejects OIC’s Statement on Pahalgam Attack

India has firmly rejected the recent statement issued by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it both “absurd” and “misguided.” In a strongly worded response, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) accused Pakistan of manipulating the OIC to issue a statement that distorts facts and interferes in India’s internal affairs.

MEA Terms OIC Statement Absurd

The MEA stated that the OIC’s remarks deliberately ignored the cross-border terror dimensions of the Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 civilians were killed. It noted that the OIC’s response failed to acknowledge the realities of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and instead mirrored Islamabad’s propaganda. According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, “The OIC statement, issued at the behest of Pakistan, is absurd in refusing to recognize the facts of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its cross-border linkages.”

India strongly condemned the OIC’s attempt to internationalize what it considers a domestic issue and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral part of India. The MEA added that OIC’s repeated attempts to comment on India’s internal matters are neither welcome nor legitimate.

OIC Draws Criticism for One-Sided Narrative

The OIC’s statement had expressed concern over the security situation in South Asia and criticized what it called “unfounded Indian allegations” against Pakistan. Though it condemned terrorism, it also implied that India’s approach was contributing to regional instability. India, however, views such statements as dangerously biased and lacking any credible foundation.

By seemingly defending Pakistan even in the wake of a gruesome civilian attack, the OIC has once again come under scrutiny for its selective outrage and politicized positioning.

India Asserts Sovereignty

India’s response reinforces its long-standing stance that the OIC has no locus standi to comment on India’s internal affairs, especially when acting under Pakistani influence. New Delhi has repeatedly criticized the OIC for echoing Pakistan’s narrative without considering verified facts or engaging in objective analysis.

This exchange marks yet another low in India-OIC relations and highlights the growing geopolitical friction over narratives surrounding Kashmir and cross-border terrorism.
