The announcement marks a major step in relations between the two countries, with both sides agreeing to deepen cooperation across trade, technology, defence, security, innovation and clean energy. Prime Minister Modi said the partnership would give a new direction to bilateral ties and help both nations work more closely on future-ready sectors.
Green Hydrogen And Technology Cooperation
A key focus of the talks was cooperation in green hydrogen, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and advanced technology. Both sides discussed a roadmap to strengthen collaboration in clean energy and innovation, while also supporting joint research and development between Indian and Dutch institutions.
The Netherlands is an important European partner for India, particularly in trade, investment, water management, agriculture and technology. The upgraded relationship is expected to help create stronger supply chains and expand business opportunities for companies in both countries.
India EU Trade And Investment Push
The talks also came against the wider backdrop of India’s growing engagement with Europe. PM Modi said stronger India-Netherlands ties would help unlock the potential of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and support deeper economic cooperation.
Both leaders also discussed talent mobility, university partnerships and people-to-people exchanges. The strategic partnership is expected to provide a broader framework for long-term cooperation between New Delhi and The Hague, especially in areas linked to economic growth, sustainability and emerging technologies.
