Houthis Strike Saudi Aramco After Yemen Airstrikes
Houthis Target Saudi Aramco Headquarters in Dhahran
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree warned employees and civilians to evacuate Saudi Aramco facilities, including its Dhahran headquarters and a refinery in Riyadh, declaring them potential military targets.
The warning followed an evacuation order issued by the Saudi-led coalition for the Yemeni Oil Company’s al-Sabah central station in Sanaa.
Saudi authorities also reported intercepting missiles approaching Riyadh. Falling debris injured four people and damaged 15 residential properties.
Saudi Airstrikes Hit Oil Facilities in Yemen
Saudi-led forces carried out airstrikes targeting oil installations in Sanaa and Yemen’s western coastal region.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki alleged that Houthi forces were using underground fuel facilities to store missiles and drones.
Houthi-affiliated authorities disputed the military justification for the attacks and maintained that the targeted storage facilities contained no fuel reserves.
The strikes heightened concerns over civilian infrastructure and fuel supplies in Yemen.
Riyadh Airport Attacks Disrupt International Flights
The escalation follows deadly attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. An October 10 attack killed at least 13 people and injured more than 300, while another strike the following day caused additional casualties.
Several international airlines subsequently suspended flights to Saudi Arabia amid continuing security concerns.
Saudi Arabia’s cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, warned that the Houthis would face consequences for attacks on the kingdom.
The renewed fighting has raised concerns about regional energy security, international aviation and further escalation of the Yemen conflict.
