Government Forms Committee to Boost IAF’s Capabilities
In a major move to strengthen the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) operational and strategic capabilities, the central government has established a high-level committee under the Defence Secretary. The committee is tasked with reviewing and enhancing the overall capability development of the Air Force to address emerging challenges in national security and align with global standards.
The Defence Ministry announced the formation of the committee on December 22, emphasizing the need to evaluate the IAF’s readiness in light of evolving threats and rapid technological advancements in aerospace defence systems.
Strategic Focus of the Committee
The committee, headed by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, will focus on assessing the current operational framework of the IAF and recommending necessary upgrades. This includes evaluating fighter aircraft fleets, surveillance systems, missile defence technologies, and the integration of cutting-edge innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and unmanned aerial systems.
The panel will also look into optimizing resource allocation to enhance combat preparedness while ensuring cost-effective solutions for future procurements and modernization projects.
