Ghalibaf Says US Blockade Targets Iran

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has accused the United States of using a naval blockade to intensify economic pressure and create internal divisions inside Iran.

Ghalibaf Attacks US Naval Blockade

Ghalibaf said the US blockade was aimed at forcing Iran into submission by weakening the country from within. He claimed Washington was trying to divide Iranian society between hardliners and moderates while using economic pressure to increase political instability.

His remarks came as tensions remain high over the Middle East conflict and the wider standoff between Washington and Tehran.

Iran Claims Pressure Campaign Targets Unity

Ghalibaf argued that the United States had entered a new phase of pressure by combining blockade measures with media messaging. He said the purpose was to weaken Iran’s internal cohesion and trigger public frustration against the government.

The Iranian leader called for national unity, describing it as the only response to what he called an enemy strategy of economic pressure and internal division.

US-Iran Tensions Remain High

Ghalibaf has gained greater prominence during the ongoing conflict and has been involved in direct US-Iranian diplomatic engagement. His comments followed US President Donald Trump’s earlier claim that Iran’s government was seriously fractured.

The blockade has become a key point of escalation between the two countries, with Tehran accusing Washington of coercion and Washington maintaining pressure over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional conduct.

The dispute adds another layer of uncertainty to the Gulf region, where any prolonged standoff could affect energy routes, diplomatic negotiations and regional security.
