Fleming Set To Continue As CSK Coach
Chennai Super Kings are expected to retain Stephen Fleming as head coach despite growing calls for change after two disappointing IPL seasons, with the franchise reportedly not planning any major change at the top.
Stephen Fleming To Continue As CSK Head Coach
Stephen Fleming is set to continue as Chennai Super Kings head coach, even as sections of the fanbase have demanded changes after the team’s recent struggles.
Fleming has been associated with CSK since the inaugural IPL season in 2008 and has served as head coach since 2009. The former New Zealand captain remains one of the longest-serving coaches in franchise cricket and has overseen one of CSK’s most successful eras.
CSK Back Fleming Despite Poor IPL Seasons
CSK have endured two difficult IPL campaigns, finishing 10th in 2025 and eighth in the recently concluded season. The results led to criticism from supporters, with some social media campaigns calling for Fleming’s removal.
However, the franchise is not expected to change its coaching structure before the next season. Fleming’s contract is renewed annually, and the arrangement is expected to continue this year as well.
CSK Review And Trade Plans
CSK are expected to conduct a detailed season review after the ongoing Major League Cricket season, where Fleming is currently coaching Texas Super Kings in the United States.
Several squad-related decisions may be discussed during the review, but Fleming’s position is not expected to be part of that debate. The franchise has also received some trade enquiries, though it is currently not planning to release any player.
Reports of a possible swap involving Khaleel Ahmed and David Miller have been denied by both Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
