Delhi Weather May Worsen Again, Manjinder Singh Sirsa Warns
Delhi’s winter weather conditions are expected to worsen again in the coming days, with dense fog likely to return, according to Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. He said the recent improvement in visibility and air quality should be seen as temporary and warned that adverse conditions could re-emerge soon.
Sirsa stated that changing meteorological factors, including western disturbances typical during the north Indian winter, may contribute to the formation of dense fog. Such conditions often reduce air movement and trap pollutants close to the ground, leading to poorer visibility and deteriorating air quality across the national capital.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
The minister urged residents to continue following pollution control measures even though stricter emergency restrictions have been relaxed. He called on people to limit unnecessary vehicle use, ensure their vehicles comply with pollution norms, and avoid activities that add to emissions, especially during night hours.
Sirsa also cautioned against burning waste or lighting fires, noting that even small sources of pollution can significantly worsen air quality when weather conditions are unfavourable. He emphasised that collective responsibility is crucial during the winter season, when atmospheric conditions make the city more vulnerable to pollution spikes.
Winter Weather Outlook
Delhi regularly experiences dense fog during peak winter months, often disrupting road, rail, and air traffic. Officials said authorities are closely monitoring weather patterns and air quality trends, and residents should remain cautious as conditions may fluctuate in the days ahead.
