Delhi Holds Metro Security Drills Ahead of BRICS
Delhi Police, along with the CISF, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and other agencies, conducted multi-agency mock drills at key Metro stations on September 10 as part of security preparations for the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
Security Drills Held at Key Delhi Metro Stations
The exercises were conducted at Jama Masjid, Supreme Court, Dhaula Kuan and IGI Airport Metro stations.
Officials said the drills were designed to test coordination between security forces, emergency services and Metro authorities in responding to possible threats during the summit period.
The scenarios included simulated terrorist attacks, casualty evacuation and suspicious unattended baggage.
Terror Attack Scenarios Tested at Two Stations
At Jama Masjid Metro Station, security personnel responded to a simulated attack involving two assailants.
A similar exercise was held at Supreme Court Metro Station, where teams practised locating and neutralising simulated attackers before evacuating casualties.
Emergency medical personnel were also involved in the Supreme Court drill, with injured people moved for simulated treatment as part of the exercise.
Bomb Disposal Teams Deployed in Mock Exercises
At Dhaula Kuan and IGI Airport Metro stations, security agencies tested their response to unattended baggage found in unpaid areas.
Police and security teams secured the locations while Bomb Detection and Disposal Teams and trained canine units examined the suspicious objects.
The drills form part of wider security arrangements being implemented across the national capital ahead of the BRICS Summit, which will bring several international leaders and delegations to New Delhi.
